The results of a survey conducted by Bank Indonesia on the consumer confidence index (IKK) in April 2010 showed an increase of IKK back 3.3 points from the previous period so as to achieve the level of 110.7.
"The level of consumer confidence continues to show improvement underpinned by improvement in respondents' perceptions of current economic conditions and rising expectations of economic conditions six months ahead," wrote the survey results are quoted from the official site Bisnis.com BI today.
Economic improvements are indicated to the improved economic indicators, such as stabilizing the rupiah exchange rate, moderate inflation rates, and foreign exchange reserves continued to increase.
"[It] is a factor-fakor that support increased consumer confidence, which in turn helped encourage the tendency of increase in household expenditure," explained the survey.
Consumer opinion, current economic conditions better than the same period the previous year in which seen from the increase in IKK which reached 110.7 in April 2010, an increase of 8.2 points from last year.
According to the regional, IKK in the four regions were still at the level of pessimism that is the index of 97.7 DKI Jakarta, Bandung, with an index of 97.6, with an index of 98.3 Surabaya and Denpasar with a 95.6 index points.
IKK survey is a monthly survey conducted by Bank Indonesia to approximately 4600 households as respondents in 18 major cities of Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Medan, Makassar, Bandar Lampung, Palembang, Banjarmasin, Padang, Pontianak, Samarinda, Manado, Denpasar, Mataram, Louth, Ambon, and Banten.
The survey results also indicate pressure on prices for the next three months is expected to rise an indication of the rising price expectations index 3.5 points higher than the previous month.
"Plan for the basic electricity tariff increase in July 2010 is estimated to have influenced the respondents' expectations of price pressures in the next three months," explained the survey.
However, price pressures in the next six months declined 1.8 points primarily due to seasonal factors affected after the Feast of Idulfitri.
