The markets opened at day’s low point and entered into green territory for a short time in noon trade, but paired its gains tracking negative global cues.

The selling pressure is seen in Technology, metal & Health Care sectors. The BSE Sensex ended at 16,857.91 down 132.27 points with an intra-day low of 16,432.00, and Nifty shut at 5,072.85 down 45.65points after hitting an intra-day low of 4,946.45. The breadth of the market was negative in today’s trade and the total volumes were at Rs 217759 cr. The August future ended down at 5095.60.

In IT space, Patni Computer ended down 5.12%, Mphasis ended down 4.37%, TCS ended down 4.16%, Infosys ended down 3.68%.

In the banking, Yes Bank ended down 3.23%, Indusind Bank ended down 3.07%, Axis Bank ended down 2.14%, Bank of India ended down 1.77%.

In Metal space Tata Steel ended down 4.87%, National Alum ended down 4.42%, JSW Steel ended down 3.22% and Coal India ended down 2.98%.

In Reality space GODREJ PROP ended down 5.49%, Prestige Estates ended down 4.92%, Peninsula Land ended down 4.48%, D B REALTY ended down 4.07%.

In Auto space M & M gained 4.29% , Apollo Tyres ended up 4.20%, Ashok Leyland ended up 2.70% whereas Tata Motor ended down 4.33%.

Top gainers on the Sensex - M & M gained 4.29%, DLF up 2.48%, ITC up 2.44%, HDFC up 2.02%.
