The broad General Index ended 0.47% higher at 22047.92 points, while the blue-chip Selective Index closed down 1.3% at 30021.78.
Financial holding company Credicorp Ltd. (BAP, BAP.VL), the owner of Peru's largest bank, lost 4.1% to $92.80, and copper producer Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde SAA (CVERDEC1.VL) closed 2.1% lower at $43.39.
Going the other way, polymetallic miner Compania Minera Milpo SAA (MILPOI1.VL) ended 0.19% higher at PEN5.31 ($1.94).
Copper futures slipped on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange Tuesday as a bout of global risk aversion lifted the dollar, while gold reached new highs as a safe-haven investment amid investor jitters about global economic growth.
The Peruvian sol firmed slightly against the U.S. dollar, closing at PEN2.7430 compared to PEN2.7440 the previous session. So far this year, the sol has appreciated 2.3% against the greenback.
