At 9.20am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 0.24 of a point or 0.02 per cent to 1,464.35.
It had opened at 1,465.25, up 1.14 points from yesterday's closing.
Major equity indices on Wall Street rose slightly yesterday, up between 0.1 per cent and 0.4 per cent at the closing bell, on reports of good jobs and manufacturing data which jumped to the highest level since May.
On Bursa, the Finance Index fell 4.399 points to 13,073.98, the Plantation Index gained 2.92 points to 7,909.01 and the Industrial Index rose 12.34 points to 2,657.48.
The FBM Emas Index added 6.899 points to 10,045.01, the FBM Mid 70 Index increased 22.38 points to 11,053.77 and the FBM ACE Index went up 5.98 points to 4,120.18.
Gainers outpaced losers by 148 to 89, while 150 counters traded unchanged.
Turnover stood at 233 million lots worth RM110.12 million.
JCY-CD gained one sen to 31.5 sen, Proton-CG lost one sen to 60 sen and Proton-CH added half sen to 50.5 sen. Among heavyweights, Maybank and Sime Darby were flat at RM8.23 and RM8.95 respectively, while CIMB fell five sen to RM6.87.
